What do you do? You can of course pitch down the loop, but that will make the loop sound very different, and what if there are harmonies in the loop that you want to match to your song. The loop is 108 bpm and your track is 90 bpm. Imagine that you have a sample of a drum loop that you want to use in a track you are working on.

Load the resulting REX2 file into your audio sequencer or software sampler and you can be the master of your grooves, once and for all.

You are now in complete control and free to change the tempo or the pitch, without one affecting the other. ReCycle will analyze your groove and break it up into its rhythmic components. A tool for quickly editing sampled parts, chopping up riffs, remixing and doing mash ups. In simple terms, ReCycle lets you do with sampled loops what you can do with beats programmed from individual drum sounds – like alter the tempo, or replace sounds and process them individually. Reason 10 focused on adding new native rack devices because they hadn't focused on them for a while.įWIW, we're probably in agreement about a lot of things that we want to see added ASAP! I just had to pick at this Though I think enough has changed in Reason since the Combinator was added that an entirely new concept for it is probably warranted by this point, rather than just a stopgap update.Propellerheads ReCycle 2.2 is a creative tool that helps you make the most of your grooves. They all focused mostly on expanding DAW functionality (spectrum EQ, mixer groups, audio slice editor, audio pitch editor, browser overhaul, midi modifiers in the rack, plugin SDK updates, VST support, etc) rather than adding new instruments and effects to the rack. None of the updates from Reason 6 until now included new instruments, though. Or don't, and continue to happily spend your money on more crippled 3rd party packs or in-house instruments that could (and should) be done by RE devs. Meanwhile every other DAW has significant updates and functionality, significant patches, and significant new releases that make Reasons paltry "But new instruments!!" repetitive offerings look like a joke.Īnd Reaper was just my personal choice, go with any you like and compare. Their DAW backend has been terribly ignored since V6, we can't even get a few more knobs on the combinator, and that's the absolute least and insignificant of Reasons DAW issues customers have been demanding for years. Fine if they want to simply be a rewired instrument, terrible if they aspire to continue to be considered a DAW. Reason releases, as I mentioned, are just added REs almost exclusively "on top of" the app, not core functionality, pretty much nothing else. Which is why we have REs to choose from, and now VSTs (crappy performance on VSTs, but at least we can get em in). I have several programs from the early 90s that never were updated that run flawless too, commendable? Not quite the same of course, but not far off - they built the DAW and instruments, but ignore the DAW.Īs for reaper not having any instruments, you don't think they could easily "bundle" some VSTs from soundiron or other 3rd parties, or make some crippled REAhumana REApangea REAsuperwave like Propellerhead did? Sure they could, and it would be laughable - people don't need a DAW to pick their instruments. But agreed generally Reason releases are mostly flawless with few exceptions. Only widespread bugs now are the VST related ones which Reaper does fixes for as well.

I guess their KISS approach works on the code level as well Then again I really have to commend the Props for how bug free their software actually is. What Apple does with these Logic updates is practically an advertisement for people to buy macs. My response was more so to the expectation of Logic level updates in Reason. Now that said, I do agree Reason could benefit from how quickly Reaper does this. Props tend to focus more on new devices/ workflow features than typical DAW functionality. Reaper doesn't really have instruments so their focus with updates seem to be mainly bug fixes or slight improvements.

I don't even care about Mac, I quite dislike them in fact.
#PROPELLERHEAD RECYCLE PNG PATCH#
The patch notes alone in comparison make Propellerhead look like some teen kid with a full time job working on a school project.

I personally compare Reason to Reaper, but you can take that comparison to ANY significant DAW and see exactly what I'm talking about. Expecting updates this big out of Propellerhead is just unrealistic unless they jump back into hardware sales. Even Presonus has hardware sales in addition to their software.

Especially since you need a Mac to run it to begin with. Apple has several other sources of income that significantly exceed what they make off of Logic.
